First Grade Option
To best serve the community and the typically higher enrollment numbers of First Grade students, we are offering 2 different options. You can enroll for the First Grade CCD curriculum or the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) program. Both programs count as a year of Religious education towards receiving Sacraments.
If you choose the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd instead of CCD, please complete the CGS enrollment form and not the CCD enrollment form below.
First Holy Communion/Confirmation
Our religious education program supports the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
First Holy Communion is celebrated usually when the children are in Second Grade. The sacrament of Confirmation is necessary to complete the “sacraments of Christian initiation” begun by baptism. Confirmation is usually celebrated when children are between the age of discretion (considered to be about age seven) and about sixteen years of age. In our parish, the Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated in eighth grade. Nevertheless, there are classes for children of non-traditional age to receive their sacraments.
In order receive the Sacraments of Communion and Confirmation, students are required to have completed two full years of Religious education. Additionally, families of First Holy Communion candidates will be required to participate in a preparation class one Saturday a month beginning in January -- details to follow.
Families participating in Sacraments will be asked for addition financial support closer to the date.
CCD Volunteers Needed!
Volunteers heavily support our religious education program for children. Parents, high school students and parishioners teach, assist teachers, coordinate class schedules, and plan for the Sacraments and CCD-sponsored Masses. Their efforts are critical to the parish and we welcome more assistance.
If you have time or a skill that you're willing to contribute we welcome it. The CCD enrollment form below will also allow you to indicate interest in teaching and other volunteer opportunities.
Support Religious Education | CCD
We are proud to see how the religious education program has grown throughout the years. The growth the program has experienced is a trend we expect to continue in our community. Such growth poses opportunities and challenges. Please consider supporting our parish's religious education program so we may continue our mission to instill Catholic values in our children.
